Welcome to the SF MusicTech Summit Slack Community and thanks for signing up!
Before you jump into chatting with other attendees and the SF MusicTech Summit team, we want to go over a few things…
Community Guidelines
- The SF MusicTech Summit is all about creating a positive environment to connect, do deals and move the music and tech ecosystem forward. The SF MusicTech Summit Slack community should maintain a similar vibe.
- Each member is limited to one account per attendee. Your user name should be your first and last name ex: brian_zisk. The Admin team has the right to edit any user name that doesn’t meet these guidelines.
- Please note: as per all Slack communities, the email we used to invite you to join the SF MusicTech Summit Slack community will be visible to all members of the SF MusicTech Summit Slack community. If you’d prefer to change that email to a “burner” email, you can edit under Profile & Account.
- Approach each interaction with curiosity over criticism. Be open minded and work towards productive discussion vs one-sided debates. Please be respectful of all viewpoints.
- This is a community of acceptance. Any personal attacks or degrading comments on the basis of gender, race, class, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual preference, disability or other classification will not be tolerated and may result in immediate removal from the SF MusicTech Summit Slack community.
- Talk to someone you don’t know! There are plenty of newbies that attend our event each year, help us make sure they feel included.
- Don’t SPAM. We have a specific channel geared towards elevator pitches, please limit self promotion to this channel.
- Respect the DM. This is a great way to have private discussions and make personal connections, but be sure your messages are welcome. If you are unsure, please ask an attendee before DMing. If you are on the receiving end of unwanted and/or excessive DMs, please report to the “Admin” account via DM. Please keep in mind that everyone will have varying levels of activity in the community. If someone isn’t responding to you, don’t take it personally, it may be better to try to connect in person at the event 🙂
- If you are chatting with a specific person in a channel, please @tag that person before you respond. Let’s keep mass alerts down and have meaningful conversation.
- Please keep in mind, that everyone in the community will be able to view activity in all channels. You are responsible for the content you post. Don’t say anything you wouldn’t say IRL. This is not a place for NSFW content.
- If anyone is interested in pulling quotes from the community, please ask permission prior to publishing in an outside article, blog, post, etc.
- Follow posted guidelines for what belongs in each channel. If we see things posted in the wrong place, we’ll gently nudge you to the right place.
- Respect other members of the community. This isn’t a place for intimidation or bullying.
- Although you must be a registered attendee of Summit 17 in order to join the SF MusicTech Slack community, membership in the SF MusicTech Summit Slack community is a bonus and not guaranteed with a purchase of a ticket. All attendees will be invited to join the discussion, but any misuse, in our sole discretion, of the channel will result in being removed from the SF MusicTech Summit Slack community for any or no reason.
- This is a new thing for us and we are always open to feedback and ideas on how we can make the community even better. Ping the “Admin” account with any suggestions you have along the way! As this is an experiment, we reserve the right to take any action and make any changes around the SF MusicTech Summit Slack community that we deem necessary.
- If you identify any misuse of the SF MusicTech Summit Slack community, according to theses guidelines, please DM the “Admin” account to report any issues.
